This post is designed as a welcome to new and returning members of the Mac Lab Video Team.
Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to the 2010/2011 Mac Lab Video Team. We are the main source of high quality video production at Valhalla High School, and cater to clients such as the school’s administration, ABS, various sports departments, the Cheer Department, as well as pursue our own projects for contests like the IVIE Awards. My name is Christopher Canel and I am the leader of Mac Lab Media (MLM). Assisting me is the co-leader, James Wirig. Simply, I am in charge of administration and video while James is in charge of audio, but we both carry the same level of authority.
This coming year is going to be packed with projects, both big and small, and there is no time to waste! Read this post for a basic overview of our current projects, but keep in mind that that list is going to grow rapidly as the year continues. Please explore this blog and become familiar with our past projects.
As a member of Mac Lab Media, you will have a chance to use high definition Digital SLR and tape cameras, as well as industry-leading post-production software like Apple Final Cut Studio 3 and Adobe After Effects CS5. You will have the opportunity to rotate through various tasks or develope a specialty, or do some of both. You will be able to experience all aspects of a video project, from planning and pre-production to filming and eventually post-production. It is a lot of fun, but also requires a lot of work and can involve a lot of time outside of school.
Now the fun stuff is over and we get down to business. The first task of every Video Team member, new and returning, is to submit two things to me: an Illustrator self-portrait of some kind and a small paragraph describing yourself, your skills, and what you want to do in Mac Lab Media. For returning members, if your old picture and info are already on this page, then you can supply a new pic if you like, but all I need is updated info. Please finish this in a timely matter, but only after finishing any projects assigned by Mr. Skocko.
I hope I didn’t scare anyone off because we need all the help we can get. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to join Mac Lab Media, just leave a comment on this post.
Thanks, and I know we will all have a great year on the Video Team.
Update: Read this for information on our first mandatory meeting.
The schedule page is now up and filed under Current/Finished Projects. Its purpose is basically to make sure everyone is up to date with what is going on. The dates shown are the dates that we are going to be filming NOT the deadlines.
Attention members of the video team, I have a task for you. See this page. See who is the only person with a description. That’s about to change. If you want to have a description next to your name, you need to type something up, and preferably quite soon (the next couple of days). All you need is a few sentences describing your talents, what videos you have worked on, what positions you have held within the video team, and what your plans are for your future in the video team. Type up your info in a text document and put it in the Drop Box folder of Computer #14, Period 07 (or somehow get it to either Kyle of me). It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes and will help give a face to the video team.
